Mr. Gabriel B. Ploltkin
Mr. Daniel M. Feeney
Miller Shakman & Beem, LLP
Issues On Appeal:
Is there a constitutional right to record, without consent, a phone conversation with a public official performing his public duties?
Is the Illinois Eavesdropping Law unconstitutional on its face and as applied to Ms. Melongo?
To rule on these issues, the Illinois Supreme Court will hear arguments on Melongo's case on January 14th, 2014, at 9.30 am at the 18th floor of the Michael A. Bilandic Building, 160 N. LaSalle Street, Chicago.
As stated in Melongo's brief, she spent over 20 months in jail for recording and publishing three conversations with Pamela Taylor, a public official, performing her official duties.
